The Auto Parts Recyclers Association of Australia (APRAA) is the peak national association serving the auto parts recycling sector in Australia. APRAA is an affiliated trade association of the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA)

APRAA represents auto parts recyclers on national issues and in particular the development of a Government sponsored end-of-life vehicle management program to deal with the 800,000 vehicles deregistered off Australian roads each year. APRAA also provides educational, regulatory and industry information as well as other services to its membership in an effort to facilitate continued education, growth and development of the auto parts recycling industry.

APRAA’s Mission

Proactively, effectively and efficiently represent and protect the interests of Australian auto parts and recycling industry members of Motor Trades Associations and Automobile Chambers of Commerce and through them the Auto Parts and Recyclers Association of Australia (APRAA).

APRAA in Context

APRAA, through MTAA, seeks to work cooperatively with government agencies responsible for developing and applying policies to encourage greater recycling of automotive products, increase business profitability, develop better environmental outcomes, increase consumer confidence, reduce illegal business activity, increase parts traceability, advance occupational health and safety standards and raise customer service standards.

Key Stakeholders

Automotive auto parts and recycling business owners and members, automotive manufacturers, importers and wholesalers, metal recyclers/buyers, automotive repairers, State and Federal Governments and their departments (i.e. ACCC, Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, Commonwealth Department of Environment and Energy, etc.) and automotive owners.

APRAA’s Strategic Plan

In order to progress advocacy efforts, APRAA have formulated a strategic plan that outlines its activities in 2018. This plan was developed after extensive industry analysis and endorsed and amended by APRAA members.

Who We Are

APRAA membership includes an industry delegate from each of MTAA member state and territory association who represent automotive recyclers and dismantlers from each individual state and territory. Each MTAA member association provides a representative to support the industry delegate when determining national advocacy activities.
